Literacy Services

All districts, schools and classrooms are unique with their own strengths and nuances. That’s why LMC takes a customized approach to working with educators.

Our deep understanding of how children learn the skills to proficiently read and write is the foundation for all our services. And each is tailored to deliver measurable outcomes for students and schools.

During our initial discovery meeting, we will lay out your goals and work with you to come up with an integrated plan utilizing a combination of the following services.

By leveraging a variety of student-facing tools and resources, LMC will implement assessment methods such as portfolios, rubrics, and performance-based tasks, to evaluate students' progress and inform instructional decisions. This enables ongoing feedback on students' literacy skills.

Explore how small shifts make a big impact. LMC will evaluate current literacy programs and design new or evolve existing curriculum based on preferred ways of learning (and aligned to national or state standards). We use strategies and unique design models that address phonics/ phonemic awareness, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension, and writing across all grade levels to maximize effectiveness for both students and educators.

LMC demonstrates literacy lessons and coaches groups of teachers as they try the work on their own in live classrooms. Most importantly, she equips the teachers with the skills, understanding and confidence to continue similar types of instruction independently. It can include real-time and ongoing support and feedback.

LMC provides resources for leadership teams and training for teachers to incorporate customized instruction based on students' reading and writing levels, preferred ways of learning, and interests. This includes providing appropriate support for struggling readers and writers and challenging materials for advanced readers and writers.
